Friends pt 3b

A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: And there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother. (Proverbs 18:24)
Friends pt 3b: types of friends
Last time I addressed the first four friends and I’ll define the last four
5. Friends who doubt.

Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. (John 20:27),

These type of friends are for you as long as you you don’t do anything above what they thing you are able to do.

6. Friends by external request.

20Then came to him the mother of Zebedee’s children with her sons, worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of him. 21And he said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom.

These friends did not personally make the decision nor did you personally make the decision to become their friend but some asked them or you to become friends, if these friends end up making the friendship personal they will belong either one of the other seven groups

7. Friends of gift/ability.

48 Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.

49 Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel. (

John 20:48-49),

These type of friends are not your friends but are friends of your ability, if your skills and gifts made you popular then many of the who say they are your friends belong to this group, as long as your skills are still useful in their eyes they are your friends, they normally don’t ask you about anything that is not related to your gift

8. Secret friends, these type of friends are people around you that don’t come to your mind first when you think of your friends, they prefer to keep their distance until they are needed, these are people who you didn’t think they’ll come when you’re in trouble but they are the ones who will stand by you along with friends of your heart when the crowd leaves you.

And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight.

40 Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.

(John 19:39-40)

Ladies and gentlemen the strength of a good friendship is not in it’s age but in the impact in makes on both of you, if a friend doesn’t help you to become a better person then their not for you, if a friend can’t tell you when your wrong then you are friends with a killer

evaluate your friendships and call-off all friendships which are not beneficial
