Things rejected by wisdom and spirituality: Lack of discernment: physical discernment (bonus pt2)

11Now there dwelt an old prophet in Bethel; and his sons came and told him all the works that the man of God had done that day in Bethel: the words which he had spoken unto the king, them they told also to their father.

Here are the rest of the lessons I learned from this story

2. People who lie or deceive you, kill you.

The same prophet who lied to the young prophet is the same prophet whom announced his death and also buried him, the most painful part is that the old prophet got away scot-free. Ladies and gentlemen God does not care that you were deceived because he expects you to trust his word beyond the shadow of doubt, that’s why Adam and Eve got punished and were kicked out of the garden even through their deceiver acknowledged his deeds. He said to the woman: I will intensify your labor pains; you will bear children in anguish. Your desire will be for your husband, yet he will rule over you. And He said to Adam, “Because you listened to your wife’s voice and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘Do not eat from it’: The ground is cursed because of you. You will eat from it by means of painful labor all the days of your life. It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field. You will eat bread by the sweat of your brow until you return to the ground, since you were taken from it. For you are dust, and you will return to dust.”(Genesis 3:12-19)

3. Don’t easy trust new friends. A few months back I wrote a series on friends and friendship, you may check it out by clicking here. Never allow your self to trust people easily because you might give your trust to the devil and know it not. One of the things I like about my character now is that I observe everyone I interact with, this helps me to know the people am dealing with and weather to avoid, learn or teach them.

4. Not all good gestures have good intentions.

It’s ingraved in our hearts and minds to think that everyone who gives us a gift is giving out of love but unfortunately some people give out of their own selfish intentions. Never let a gift blind you from seeing the truth, the young prophet though that the old prophet truly cares about him.

5. Your death might serve as a lesson to wrong people. However, he kept back part of the proceeds with his wife’s knowledge, and brought a portion of it and laid it at the apostles’ feet. Then Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the proceeds from the field? Wasn’t it yours while you possessed it? And after it was sold, wasn’t it at your disposal? Why is it that you planned this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God!” When he heard these words, Ananias dropped dead, and a great fear came on all who heard. (Acts 5:2-5). This is one thing I don’t want to happen to me. The old prophet saw the error of his ways at the expense of the life of the young prophet. Many people repented after one or all of their friends died, it’s painful to end in hell while your co-conspirators make a turn to heaven. Life your life now for the full benefit of your soul, never think you’ll end in the same place as your friends because a last minute decision can make an eternal change. Then one of the criminals hanging there began to yell insults at Him: “Aren’t You the Messiah? Save Yourself and us!” But the other answered, rebuking him: “Don’t you even fear God, since you are undergoing the same punishment? We are punished justly, because we’re getting back what we deserve for the things we did, but this man has done nothing wrong.” Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when You come into Your kingdom!” And He said to him, “ I assure you: Today you will be with Me in paradise.”(Luke 23:39-43)

I hope you enjoyed the story and you’ll make time to read it by yourself, maybe you’ll learn something new that I didn’t learn.
