the reason Cain killed Abel was because he was jealous, and it’s the same reason why Joseph was sold into slavery and why the devil deceived man kind. And the Lord said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him. And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.( Genesis 4:6-8)
Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colours. And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him.( Genesis 37:3-4)
it’s very unfortunate that the reason why they are working hard is because their being driven by te jealousy they have for another. Saul made it his personal mission to kill David because he was jealous of the praises that David was receiving from the people forgetting that the death of Goliath is also beneficial to him as a king.
And Saul was very wroth, and the saying displeased him; and he said, They have ascribed unto David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed but thousands: and what can he have more but the kingdom? And Saul eyed David from that day and forward.( 1Samuel 18:8-9)
Jealousy has the ability to make people blind, meaning it stops people from seeing the bigger picture, let me use the story of how Saul became jealous of David. And it came to pass as they came, when David was returned from the slaughter of the Philistine, that the women came out of all cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet king Saul, with tabrets, with joy, and with instruments of musick. And the women answered one another as they played, and said, Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands. And Saul was very wroth, and the saying displeased him; and he said, They have ascribed unto David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed but thousands: and what can he have more but the kingdom? And Saul eyed David from that day and forward.( 1Samuel 18:6-9)
The song that the women were singing ws not a song of comparison but a song of succession, meaning they were saying that they were saying that it’s the efforts of Saul that make it possible to reaching new heights, they we basically honouring Saul by praising David but Saul couldn’t see that because he was blinded by hard and jealousy.
how many people you jealous of, whom there’s no reason for you to be jealous because you stand to gain form their achievements
