faith: why do we need to have faith?

But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.( Hebrews 11:6)

Last time we looked at what faith is and saw that faith is tangible, an accepted and undeniable fact as well as a possession and a tool. Today we are looking at why we need faith.

Why do we need faith?

1. To receive Christ in our lives.

Someone might say that “I thought that for me to receive Christ I just have to pray the salvation prayer”, praying the salvation prayer alone doesn’t mean you are saved. As a matter of a fact in the early days of the church the people were lead to Christ by making them pray but they just asked them whether they believe that Jesus is the son of God, and those who believed answered yes. Then Philip said, “If you believe with all your heart, you may.” And he answered and said, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.” (Acts 8:37). I’m not saying that the salvation prayer is wrong or unnecessary but I’m pointing out that the prayer needs faith to be effective in your life.

2. To please God.

But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.( Hebrews 11:6). The reason we cannot please God without faith is because our actions have already failed to please him, hence we need faith because by faith we have pleased God through the life of Jesus Christ. For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.( Romans 8:3-4),
Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him( Romans 6:8).

3. To approach God

But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.( Hebrews 11:6). The reason why many think that prayer is a waste of time is because when they pray they do it because they were told to. They went into prayer without the consciousness or thought that they are going before Almighty God, this is why they can still reply text messages and accept calls while they are praying. But people who pray in faith don’t like distractions because by faith they can see and hear the God they’re talking to.

I will continue to share on this sub-topic because there are still a few more reasons why we need to have faith. Shalom God bless you.
