For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.( John 3:16)
Today I’ll be sharing about one of the most misunderstood, abused and misused things in life, which is LOVE. Love is something which everybody things they know and understand no matter how twisted their definition or display of love is.
For us to under the true meaning of love we have to look at somebody who has has displayed love in the most spectacular way, and the person am taking about is God because he has the greatest love
But before we look what love is, let’s look at what love isn’t so that no one will deceive us, because everyone has their own definition of love and that definition is not necessary true. A man that beats his wife may claim to love her but by the reason of his actions we can all see that he doesn’t love wife just a person who continually lies to can’t claim to love you
This is very important to know because many especially ladies are being deceived in the name of love and they are holding on to a lie all in the name of “love”.
WHAT LOVE IS NOT
1. Love is not blind
If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?( 1 John 4:20)
This is probably the greatest lie that people are told when it comes to love. Ladies and gentlemen if God because of his love can could resort to giving his One and only Son since there is no way men can be Holy by their own efforts, then certainly love is not blind.
Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul. And Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was upon him, and gave it to David, and his garments, even to his sword, and to his bow, and to his girdle.( 1 Samuel 18:3-4)
You are not supposed to forsake your mind just because you love someone or you were told “I love you”. Common sense is very crucial especially when emotions are involved. If God and Jonathan took actions and did want they saw they needed to do because of the love they have then certainly love is not blind. But Jonathan Saul’s son delighted much in David: and Jonathan told David, saying, Saul my father seeketh to kill thee: now therefore, I pray thee, take heed to thyself until the morning, and abide in a secret place, and hide thyself:( 1 Samuel 19:2)
2. Love is not trust
“You have heard that it was said, Love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,( Matthew 5:43-44)
You are supposed to love everyone but your love is not makes you trust a person. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.( Matthew 22:39), But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:( 2 Corinthians 1:9).
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart;
and lean not unto thine own understanding.( Proverbs 3:5)
You must not trust anyone besides the Lord you are supposed to give people the benefit of a doubt so that it will not be hurt when they disappoint you. You must give love to everyone but never let your love turn into trust, only trust those who have earned it. A friend of mine once told me that “a friend in need is a friend indeed”.
I’ll only share these points because I believe they can help you know what true love is and that no one will deceive you in the name of love. We’ll look at what is really is on the next teaching. Shalom
