How to regain your salvation

And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,( Luke15:17 – 18)

Now that we have seen what causes people to lose their salvation it’s time for us to look at how to get it back because as long as you have breath and are living on the earth it’s not too late for you to surrender your life to Jesus Christ.

1. Examine yourself

And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!( Luke 15:17)

When the Bible said “he came to himself” it means that he sobered up and was honest with himself. I know that someone might be thinking “when was this guy not honest with himself because he did all that he had done without being coached by anybody”, the truth is you don’t make any drastic decision without being influenced by something. This guy forgot that what he was saying to be his inheritance was more his father’s property than is inheritance, he forgot that his father didn’t have to give him anything but he was privileged. It’s safe to say that this guy was acting out of foolishness.

Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?( 2 Corinthians 13:5)

You need to be always honest with yourself and the only way to do this is to evaluate yourself by certain criteria and our criteria as children of God is the Word of God. Check your lifestyle and character against the standards of the Word of God because if you want to use your own thoughts to reassure yourself that you are still in he faith by the time you see your error it might be too late to repent. There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.( Proverbs 14:12), There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.( Proverbs 16:25).

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.( 2 Chronicles 7:14)

If you want to truly be honest with yourself you have to be first humble and accept that you are human and can make mistakes no matter how silly the mistake is. The reason why many can’t be advised is because they fail to humble themselves. The reason why many people die in their foolishness is because they are too proud and have surrounded themselves with “yes men”, that’s why I feel sorry for anyone who has friends who don’t correct or call them to order when they’re wrong. If you are such a person just know that those you call your friends is either they will bury you or will sell you to your enemies when you are no longer profitable to them.

Humble yourself and accept your mistake and their consequences, and the Lord shall restore you. If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.( 2 Chronicles 7:14).
